Forsaken Nation

Forsaken Nation is, for a lack of a better word, a multimedia project that combines several projects, ideas and other randomness into a cohesive world. Forsaken Nation is set in the year 2098 in a corporate dystopia that arose from a global financial collapse in 2031. I’m working on a primer that fills in the worldwide backstory of Forsaken Nation.

I’m currently writing a series of character sketches and vignettes I’m collectively calling The Junkmongers. The series follows some of the characters in a tiny, north Alabama town named Forsaken Acres. Forsaken Acres lies along the north borderlands of the massive Birmingham-Atlanta-Montgomery-Agusta Metroplex, which is the major population center and corporate stronghold of the Deep South.

One of my side projects with The Junkmongers is Junkpile, a tabletop game in which players battle over salvage from a gigantic junkyard. The key element of the game is that players build their own robots, tanks and whatnots to do battle over junk that can sell for as much as a Wheat Penny on the black market. The other major element of Junkpile is what I call a Flowchart system that allows for solo play. I should have version Junkpile Version 1.001 ready soon, which play tests the long range combat rules.

There’s also a second writing portion that deals with the corporate world, 2098: The Complexity of Coalescence. This is a series of short stories that tie the adventures of several characters into an overall story arc. The first two stories are “The Remains of Spring” and “A Murder of Pawns.” I’m not sure when I’ll have bot of these stories ready, but I’m hoping to have them drop by August this year. Both are too long for a blog post, so I’m looking at releasing them in a PDF format.

In addition, I have several diorama projects as well as a lot of 1:64 scale die cast customs based on the world of Forsaken Nation.
