A new paint job and tires for an legendary NASCAR machine
I finally wrapped up the custom paint job on this 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona HEMI from M2Machines. The original car had a Hurst Flower Power livery, but I wanted a Daytona with a more traditional, factory paint job for my collection.

The build was a little more complicated that I planned since the plastic pins on the engine, taillights and spoiler were melted to the inside of the body. Once I got those pieces off, I broke the car down into two doors, the hood, body, spoiler and interior that needed to be painted. The dashboard was actually a separate piece, so that made detailing the interior a lot easier.
I actually ended up doing the paint job three times. I originally used a gray primer, but the red paint was a little dull. So I stripped the car again and used a white primer and followed up with three coats of red. I took the model outside to clear coat and while I was working on the hood, this cat that hangs around the house snuck up behind me and knocked the body off my drying stand and chipped the paint. The third time is the charm I guess.
I swapped out the stock wheels with a set of spare rims that came from my box of extra M2 Machines tires. Reassembly was pretty straight forward to wrap up the build.
