FIF: Hot Wheels La Troca

I don’t really have a whole lot to say about this casting. It was just on of those trucks I opened because it’s actually a beautiful vehicle. All-in-all, this may be my favorite Main Line casting from 2022.

According to the Hot Wheels Fandom Wiki, La Troca is based on a 1950 Chevy 3100 truck. The casting has been around since 2001, and the 2022 versions were metalflake gold and metal flake magenta. I’ve got several of both the gold and magenta versions. But, I like the gold version a lot better than the magenta. The gold version has gold lace rims, which match the paint scheme a whole lot better than the chrome lace rims on the magenta version. The tampo is also spot on with vintage lowrider striping.

Both of the 2022 La Troca variations look pretty good next to the 2022 Layin’ Lowrider, which made it’s debut in the 2022 Hot Wheels Main Line.

There are several past variants I’d like to add to my collection, such as the 2001 green with white flames tampo, the 2002 metalflake yellow treasure Hunt and the 2007 Holiday Rods edition.

Mijo Exclusives makes a line of figures – Lowriders 1, Low Riders 2, Lowriders 3 and Lowriders 4 – that would fit in well in a street scene or diorama with a La Troca or Layin’ Lowrider.

I only own one set of Mijo Exclusive figures, the Pin-up Girls set. To be honest, I wasn’t very impressed with the hand painting of the figures, which was very sloppy. It looks like enamel paint was used on the figures, which made them a little too shiny for my taste. However, the castings are diecast and the painting errors aren’t noticeable from a distance. You can read my review of the Pin-Up Girls set, but, despite the flaws, I’ll buy more of the Mijo Sets in the future. Their line of figures is designed for car culture vignette, scenes and dioramas and it’s hard for other figure lines to match that.
