The 57 Chevy, an all-time favorite
Without a doubt, the ‘57 Chevy Bel Air is my favorite car from that era. That favoritism dates back to my childhood in the 1970s. I remember seeing a two-tone red and white ‘57 and the tailfins really reached out and took hold of my imagination.

I consider myself more of a casual die cast car collector, so, I’m not really all that knowledgeable about the history of each particular casting. However, I’m a little disappointed that the ‘57 Chevy is still using the same casting from 1977. I get most of my historical information from the Hot Wheels Wikipedia, so if I’m wrong about the casting year, let me know.
I think it’s just kind of a shame that perhaps the most iconic car from the 1950s doesn’t even have panel lines and the detail on the tailfins comes from the tampo and not the casting itself.
All that aside, the ‘57 Chevy is still a nice little car to have in my rather limited collection. There are a few cars on the wiki I’d like to add to my collection. The first was released in 1998 and has an Andy Warhol-esque tampo. The second is a Color FX Super Stamper from 1995.
I’m sure there are quite a few other variations I’d like to have. Maybe I’ll run across some at a yard sale or thrift store.
